Question Looking for a pattern that works with these fabrics.

My Guild's Crayon Challenge

Our guild crayon challenge (see above link for the photo of my fabrics) has made a change in the rules...so now the source for the pattern we choose can be any pattern vs only ones from the president's resources.

I have 3 yards of the stripe fabric. The crayon color fabrics are only fat quarter size. I can add white fabric as a background. I am trying to stay with the fabric I have in my stash. I thought of making a crayon quilt with the stripe as the crayon wrapper and the fat quarter colors for the crayon tips.

Please send me any block or pattern ideas that you feel would work with these fabrics. I appreciate and value your input.

There are so many possibilities!!

Though I don't see why you need more ideas ...
... your crayon quilt idea looks like a pretty good idea to me.

Otherwise, pick your favourite block or go to QuiltersCache.com and find one you want to work with.

Another possibility would be to make one giant block (eg. 24") using your fabrics, then use your stripe for borders and backing.

I like your idea of "using" a label for each crayon! Good thought!

Your crayon quilt sounds like a good fit for your fabrics. I really like the Pecking Order quilt posted this week but it needs a lot of background fabric.

I like the crayon quilt idea,,too. Since you only have FQ of the solids, it would be a good use of that fabric. Since you have 3 yds of stripes....you can do an awesome border treatment and then use it as binding against a final solid border from your stash. Lots of colors from the stripes to chose from. I don't know if you like PP but you could make a couple of block from a PP pattern for corners of quilt etc. ideas are endless.

How large does the quilt have to be? I think a box with your four crayons coming out of it on a black background with zig zag string of you fq making a design would look great. I like the block with the strips and HST on the ends I think this would look neat. The strip as your crayons and the HST as a tip. Using your stripe fab. as the cover for the crayons and the HST as the tip of the crayon. I hate challenges myself. This probably doesn't make much sense but I can picture this.

Your choices of coordinating fabrics are great. I like your idea as well. Love the stripe fabric! Can hardly wait to see what your finished project looks like.

Don't have any ideas for a pattern but I KNOW others will but the striped would be great for the binding cut on the bias. I LOVE striped binding on the bias.

I just looked at your fabrics- your crayon idea sounds awesome and you could use any leftover strip and solid fabrics to do borders and/or for binding
