Default OBW with Diamond Background

I would like to do the type of OBW that uses each "block" on its own and leaves a diamond shaped background in between.
Does anyone know of a site where I can get directions on how to figure out the size of background pieces I need to cut? Or maybe a video?

Thanks, Watson

This is a Kaleidoscope pattern using strips. Not exactly what you are asking for, but could be. https://www.robertkaufman.com/assets....Marbleous.pdf

Some images from BING https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...mageBasicHover

hhmmmm??? Not sure I understand what you are asking for.
Perhaps share a link to some pics of the type of OBW that you are wanting to do.
Then I'll check my file reservoir!

Not sure if this will help but it is a tutorial done by Donna Jordan. Part 1 was how to cut fabrics and this part 2 is how to put blocks together and finish the quilt.

She is making a table runner but shows adding triangles to hexagon and how they can be used to make a quilt.

Maybe you're thinking about Stack-n-Wack. Is this the kind of pattern you're looking for? https://quiltsfromthegrove.com/produ...doscopeofblue/

I love how we all come together and try to find what someone wants and suggest all kinds of similar projects that we find. It really opens up my creative juices and makes me think about designs. This is a great group of folks.

Thanks everyone.

My OBW's have 6 sides, so there seems to be no way to make them square.

This is what I came up with although I only have done two so far. You can see that if I staggered them the black background would make an interesting secondary pattern.
I'm not sold on this, just experimenting.
I'm trying to get away from having to do it in lines the way it is usually done and having to leave it up on my design wall while I sew it together.
