I know there are some sewing machine enthusiasts.
I found this machine for $55 is it worth it? Know anything?

looks like a 15 series Singer. quite common. good for heavy sewing & FMQ, if it is in top condition. $45 is on the high
end of what I would pay, not knowing condition. 1/2 that.
they have ruined the cabinet.

FMQ = free motion quilting. Your feed dogs either drop or are covered and then you move the fabric to make more than straight lines with the thread. Clear as mud?

FMQ is free motion quilting (using the darning foot, feed dogs down).

If this machine were here in Aus. it would go for way more than that....probably around $150.00 plus. However, it's not, so I will leave it up to your fellow Americans for a more realistic opinion. Smitty is right, they have really messed up the cabinet, the paint job is very poor, to bring it back would need quite a bit of paint stripper and a lot of elbow grease. Personally I prefer my vintage machines in original untouched condition, even if a bit "rough". At least you don't have to fix what others have dabbled with.

This machine/cabinet would sell for more like $35 to $40 where I am.

I paid $60. for my Singer 15-91 in a cabinet, and it works like a little workhorse. If it's a 15-91 and in good shape, I'd snap it up in a minute. Great machine. Will sew through just about anything.
