For the team colors, do you have to use all 4 colors? Can you just use 2? Red and Blue? or Orange and black. Sorry I'm not that familiar with college colors.

[ATTACH=CONFIG]363828[/ATTACH]Here is a signature quilt I made for my BIL who was recuperating from a stem cell transplant. It was fairly easy and had lots of room for signatures. You could vary the colors to suit the teams. I liked the solid (gold) blocks as it was easy to FMQ different designs (or embroider if you choose). Good luck in your choice........it is quite the challenge to please everyone.

I think it would be fun to split it right down the middle with a band of perhaps black....perhaps either use the same pattern for both sides....or do two different patterns for the each team....no this will not make a beauty contest, it is not intended to.....it is meant to be a fun show of their favorate teams....not a lifetime achievement award....perhaps use all solids or batiks.....more like an amish......

First off I don't think you have to worry too much about the colors, if they love the teams they will love the colors.
The colors will work, the white is perfect for the signatures, and the others with eventually fall in place.
Second, it's unlikely that they will be decorating with this quilt. It sounds like it will be used. Which is what most of us want when we make and give them away isn't it?

I would think scrappy... use the team colors and then mix them up and throw them in a bag the quilt that EmiliasNana made is perfect for your signature strips. Then the more different fabrics you have in the school colors the better it will be. Get away from planned those colors will drive you nuts in a hurry. You will be pleasantly amazed then how great it will turn out. Warning it is hard to let loose of control.

Check out the warm wishes pattern. Also, check out, in the picture section, taimi's quilt titled baby quilt for Ayva. This may be something that would work for you with a contrasting color for the sashing.

I did a quilt for one daughter where I fused 14" hearts together (as if one had a large slit and the other fitted into that slit, neither dominating). Could you do that using prints from the two different teams, adjusting for the size of the prints and repeating it? Personally I thnk the young couple is crazy, but then I've made quilts I thought were crazy for people I love too!

Make two small lap\couch quilts...friend did the same schools in a table runner...it made the statement of a mixed marriage...but lacked beauty.

I love the idea of seperating throw quilts that will attach with snaps into a larger one. How very clever!!
