I have a friend who wants a Bow Tucks made out of a print that's Broadcloth. Has anyone done this? Can Broadcloth be used for a bag and still be able to wash it?

Thanks
Kristina

broad cloth is just a certain weight of cotton fabric, it is used for all kinds of sewing projects and is cotton, color fast and the broadclothes i have used for tote bags and such do not seem to shrink the way some cottons do. it is just a different (feeling)weave and heavier than what you may be used to using.

Broadcloth is usually a tightly woven cotton, but sometime it can be an 80/20 poly blend. You need to check the end of the bolt for content. I would think it would be just fine for a bag.

It's a heavier fabric. I would work with it in bags.

I have used upholstry fabric for totes. I like the way they look when they are finished. The heavier the better in my taste.

I've used it in bags, and it worked great!

I backed a quilt with some once and it is wonderful! Nice and heavy- very warm- no problems. It was a little harder to handquilt but I took my time and it looks great! I'll try to get a pic of it. It's washed all the time from all the use and no probs. All was prewashed.
