What are your thoughts on Online Quilting classes? I have seen a few and might be interested. I'm not a beginner quilter but sometime the patterens in books are confusing. Thanks for any help.

I have done 2 through the Quilt University and they were great. You have a chat line with the instructor during the class and they give lots of help. Do one when you have lots of free time. You have one week with each lesson which seems like lots, but sometimes there is a lot to do in that one lesson.

I've taken three classes with Quilt University and was very pleased with all of them. My daughter usually transfers money to my checking account at Christmas to pay for one or two throughout the year. She used to give me quilting magazine subscriptions but I like this idea better.

Craftsy has two courses with Jenny from Missouri Star Quilt Co. They're on sale now. Video courses. http://www.craftsy.com/classes

Annie of Simple Arts has video courses, too.

The negatives of Quilt U. It's very '90's. Last I heard they still aren't doing videos. The chat/msg board page is antiquated and you have to print out many pages. Factor in the expense of paper and ink.

If you want to educate yourself on EQ, EQ has free lessons on their website.

    Enjoy your classes!

Just an FYI, you do NOT have to print out all the lessons and stuff for the Quilt U. classes. You can easily save them to a file on your computer. Their range of knowledge, the community of students, the quality of their instructors are all exceptional. They have a free border class you can take to see whether or not you like it.

NB: They are off on semester break in November and December with no registrations during that period, but they do finish out the courses that start in late October which run through November.
