Any opinions out there on the proper needle to use for the classic quilt sandwich - I have cotton on both sides (not batik or anything fancy) and 80/20 batting. I never realized that in this realm, "size matters" !! Love to hear your collective wisdom.

do you have a scrap sandwich to play with?

I haven't done much besides stitch-in-the-ditch, and I think I used an 80 (don't remember the Singer equivalent) -

I use an 80/12 for stitch in the ditch and a 90/14 for free motion on my machine.

Great question and site. I've bookmarked it for future reference.

Loretta, the holes look a little larger (not that bad) when sewing but after washing they look just fine.
