Is there a difference between organic cotton and kona? I saw both at Joann's and would like to know if it's worth paying more for the organic.

Organic cotton would mean it was grown with out chemicals. Not sure about the dying process though.....the organic might be nice for someone with allergies.

Kona is considered one of the best cottons on the market. Those of us who dye fabric would kill for it (well, not literally). Unless you have an allergy - and I have a highly allergic family, and they have had no problems - I would grab the Kona.

Usually organic fabrics are dyed using organic dyes as well. If you want to do something better for the environment or want fewer chemicals next to your skin, I would go organic. If those things aren't as important to you, go with Kona. Usually organic fabrics are more expensive.

The organic fabric didn't have the soft sheen that kona cotton does, but it was much softer.

Who was the manufacturer of the organic cotton? Kona Cotton is a brand name. Organic cotton is a growing method.

Legacy Studio is a high end JoAnn's brand from what I can find out, made in Korea. Robert Kaufman's Kona Cotton is pretty much the industry standard for premium solid quilting cotton.

The organic issue is your decision alone. If I'm not going to eat it, it doesn't matter so much to me.
