I have 2 Ott Lites and one standing lamp that I bought at Big Lots. Only difference was the price! Big Ott Lite was over $100, table model was $79, and Big Lots lamp was $30. Such a deal!

My son is a tattoo artist and he swears by the lights that they sell at Big Lots. They look like the Ott lights except the tops are wider. He prefers them over the Ott lights for his close up work and they run around $39.00. I have two of them and I also like them better!

Dear quilt/sewist friends,
Please be careful using your Ott Lites around your computerized sewing machines if you have a LCD viewing screen. A good friend of mine ruined her $8,000 Janome.
She kept her ott lite shining directly on her machine...and the LCD window. One day she turned her machine on and she had nothing on the LCD...she couldn't see what mode/style she was sewing and could not change modes or anything. When she contacted Janome, they said that she would have to send the machine to Janome and it would cost about half of the machine cost to replace the computerized screen. This has been 7 years ago, perhaps the display screens are more durable to light sources....I continue to hear that sunlight and these lamps can do damage to these screens. I use my Ott lite all the time, but cover the display screen when I turn on the lamp. Better safe than sorry.

You should look at the markup at RV stores!! SHEESH. And I found a catalog for jewelry....one the professionals use. The markup on jewelry is 70%!!!!!
Absolutely right!!! I've been buying supplies at our local ADAP (American Discount Auto Parts) store. They have a small section with RV supplies much less expensive than Camping World. If I wasn't so P.O.'d at Walmart for getting rid of their fabric section, I'd buy stuff there.
Check to see if they still have their RV dept. Ours got rid of that too, so now the pink winterizing bottles are much more expensive at Camping World. Unfortunately WalMart has a reputation of coming in, running a lot of small businesses out that just can't compete, and then dropping that dept. so customers are left high & dry. WalMart is not a place I like to shop.

I've found some great buys here:

Unfortunately, I don't see Ott on the list. There might be some other lamps though. They are offering wholesale prices to the public, and I've had good luck. Things come FAST too.

Glad to have this info on Ott lights and bulbs as I am "Ott dependent" while sewing.

Lowe's offers military discount of 10% at all times, in case anyone is in that category. Every little bit helps.

I've always said that not everything needs to come from the quilt or fabric shop.
