Question Paper Piecing

Can anyone recommend a good instructional video for paper piecing? I saw one on you tube but I need to be able to take it to my sewing room and see it over and over. THANKS FOR THE HELP.

I don't know of any instructional videos but my best advice is to start out with a really simple block and make a bunch of them before moving on to a more complex pattern. Once you get the basic technique down it becomes routine and starts to make sense. Hope this helps. I like Alex Anderson's paper piecing book.

ill go look for videos online

I taught myself starting with the PP instructions (words, not video) on QuiltersCache.

I know there are a lot of videos out there.
Keep in mind that you will find LOTS of different ways it is done.
Try different ones, and allow yourself to improvise to develop your own style and what works best for you!

Carol Doak has the best DVD for learning paper piecing. You can't mess up, every step is explained and shown. The add a quarter ruler will be a big help in all paper piecing. I would suggest you learn how to sew with the paper left in and then go to the no sewing on paper method.

I have just taken a Craftsy class on paper piecing and LOVED it. It is by Peggy Martin and definitely worth the money. Technique she teaches is the fastest and by far the easiest. Good luck!

Start with something simple. I found this tut on you-tube to be most helpful. She explains it very simply and the pattern that she uses is very basic which you need to get you ahead around.

Good luck with it.

I like Carol Doak's books. She has some freebies online too. I just finished taking the paper off the back of a Mariner's Compass quilt I paper pieced. What a PAIN! It makes the piecing perfect, but I'm not sure it is worth the trouble. My paper was the little tissue like in the old sewing patterns. It was a packaged pattern and paper pieces. I picked it out all afternoon yesterday. I finally just left some of it on there. It is going to be a wallhanging, so who will know?
