Default Pillow corners

I made this pillow using Creative Grids Pineapple block ruler. However, I've always wondered how to sew the pillow together so that the corners are filled with the pillow form. Any tips?

Very pretty pillow. I seem to have that problem too. Maybe round the corners a little as you sew around the pillow.

My goodness, that is gorgeous! My sister has one of those pokey things to push corners. I cannot remember what it is called though.

There's a formula where you trim the corners down so you don't get the bunny ears. Let me look & see if I can find it.

OK, here's one:

irritating, isn't it? Sometimes, if I remember, I'll make the pillow case a little smaller than the pillow form size. Most of the time, i make a liner and make my own pillow form by stuffing the liner. if you buy the more costly pillow forms without the zipper in them, you can add additional stuffing in the pillow form.

When doing the final sewing around the edges, I sew in extra quilt batt at the corners before turning right side out. Lovely pillow!

You need a template

Similar to the method shown above. You can add stuffing and push it down into those corners. I don't put zippers in bottom edge either. Make a flange and move it up two inches on back.

You can also box the corners to remove that bulk and dog ears.

Default Pillow with square corners

I make my pillows by quilting the front and back separately. The back is in 2 pieces that overlap with the opening about at the center and is closed with Velcro, buttons, or snaps. I put the top on the back with right sides out and stitch all the way around. Trim and then bind as I would a quilt using binding almost 3 inches wide before folding, because of the extra thickness where the two pieces in the back overlap. Insert homemade or purchased pillow form.

here is another idea from Nancy Zieman's blog. I have used this technique and then added a bit of poly fill in the corners to keep the shape better with the pillow form.
