Default Pattern Identification

My grandson saw this online and sent it to me to make for him. I think I need a pattern and need help identifying it. Anyone know this pattern and where I might get it? Thanks so very much.

Don't know, sure would like to get that pattern too - like I NEED another project for my bucket list - at this rate I'm going to have to make quilts until I'm 200 - sigh.

It is a pattern. Ask him if he can go back to the web site where he saw it and perhaps there will be a link.

Toucanlady:

This is close but not quite right: Simply Stripes
by NANCY MAHONEY
Fabric courtesy of P&B Textiles
Contemporary flair! Just two fabrics were used in this striking lap quilt to create an overlapping block design.
Skill level: Intermediate/Advanced
Block size sewn into quilt: 8" x 8"
Number of blocks: 36
Finished quilt size: 60½" x 60½"

I found it on: http://www.thequiltermag.com/issues/...er/index.shtml

I'll keep looking to see if I can find one exactly like the one he is requesting.

divide each 'square' into quarters - only the center one needs four quarters.
If you start at the outside, you'd make a block with three quarters of one block, plus one quarter from the next block.
(does that make any sense?!?!)

it is a very simple pattern to make but you need a design wall to keep the blocks straight!! each block is 1/4 of the full center square and you lay out the blocks row by row. start at the bottom left block.....2 blocks with the same colors....next 2 blocks are the same...etc. second row from the bottom left....1st block is the repeat of row 1, next 2 blocks are a new color pattern....etc. the finished quilt looks very complicated but it is very easy!!!! just be sure to use that design wall. I know there are free patterns out there but I don't have time to look.....it is a 1/4 log cabin style block.....this is a scrappy style as it looks like each block is a different color....have fun!!

This is similar, but not exactly the same.

I believe the pattern is called "Thinking outside the block".
