Default Pattern Selection Question

I have a Robert Kaufman jelly roll that I think would make a pretty quilt using the Over and Down Under Pattern by Bonnie Sullivan. I took a picture of the jelly roll so you could see the colors & would like to know if you think it would do well with this pattern. I'm not sure about that strip with all the colored stripes but I would not use that piece. I'm thinking it was just to show colors...I'm not sure. It's a 42 piece jelly roll & I would use black for the background. I'm thinking it would be a very pretty, eye popping quilt but I'm soooo not good with color selections. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone ever made this quilt? Was it easy? I consider myself to be an intermediate quilter.

I agree about the striped piece for binding but there is only one piece of that in the entire jelly roll. I just counted the pieces & it's one of the 42 pieces. I'm hoping I'm not biting off more than I can chew by this attempt.

I think your jelly roll would look great in that pattern, especially with a black background. The striped piece could be used as a surprise piece in the backing. I’d hate to waste it.

You chose the perfect pattern for those luscious fabrics!

Yes, I think that will be a great pattern for the jelly roll. You could always go online and buy enough of the stripped piece for binding, although black binding may look good too. I don't think this pattern would be too difficult for you.

I ordered the pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Co. last night & am looking forward to starting on this quilt. I'm not a big fan of square quilts so I'll probably add extra border on the top & bottom to make it rectangular. Thanks for all the input & encouragement. I'm a "go to it & get it done" type quilter but I will be going slow & sure on this quilt & definitely not work on it on evenings when I am tired (that's when I make most of my mistakes...)

I agree too! Nothing says you can't order half a yard to use for the binding.
