I have been making checkerboard quilts.....love to make them in scrappy colors and I also think they look great with one colorway.....like black squares and white between them. I've also done like a solid blue with scrappy blue squares.

Thanks for sharing! I'm making charity quilts for our Guild and I think this will be perfect.

Vanessa from Lella Boutique has a new book out called "Charm School" and it has really cute patterns using 5" squares.

I used 5 inch square for the Kindred Pinwheel (Missouri Star tutorial) and it turned out good.

I use 5"squares to make small wallets and cardholders, takes 5 squares with interfacing on 1 o/s and 1 i/s square, fold 3 squares in half, arrange them on bottom of 1 of the squares that will be the inside of wallet, then place the outside square face down on all the other squares, sew all around leaving opening on the top for turning, turn, press, top stitch across top or all around, fold top over and add velcro to close, all my friends love these and nice for a little gift inside b'day card

PS I have even made these cutting larger squares

Stitchergirl, I'm currently working on the exact pattern but with fall colors and cream. It is extremely easy and just 2 charm packs. The cream was around a half yard.
