Tree Lot by CozyQuilt - opinion?
I'd appreciate your thoughts on whether the background for the pattern"Tree Lot" by CozyQuilt (links below) could be done in scrappy neutrals. It's designed to use a jelly roll for the trees (I'm using a Holiday in the Pines http://www.hollyhillquiltshoppe.com/...idayInThePines jelly roll for the trees, sashing and binding) and a constant background. Not sure about border yet, I love some of the fabrics in this line and might go with one of them, but rarely have I done a quilt from one line of fabric - I'm a scrappy girl!
As each bough of the trees is made from a strip of jelly roll and a strip of background, it'd be easy enough to use strips from several neutrals... How do you think it'd look if I used scrappy neutrals in place of the constant background? I'd stay with neutrals that are off white/light cream. Would it be too distracting? I'm just not used to so much white space, lol. My quilt's generally have lots and lots of fabrics, and use small pieces - I don't know of anything, other than my avatar, that has had such large expanses of one fabric.

I would definitely use a lot of pale neutrals - it would give the background a lot more texture and interest without being too overwhelming ... it will look like sunshine on the snow.
It's going to be gorgeous, don't forget to show us when you get it done!

MdmSew'n'Sew - Hmm, picture... I rarely post pics of my quilts, not sure why. I also dont often take them to our guild show and tell. Maybe it's time to bust out of that rut!
I LOVE your quote/tag line!
