Default Photo software

I decided to do a challenge. I have a little camera that I plan to have with me everyday and take at least one picture. I'm only on my 5th day but already I'm having fun. I'm calling it '365 days of Meme'. From these pictures I plan to pull together a quilt using some of them. I can't believe the timing of the Quilting Board's Article today!!!! So helpful for this endeavor. So, my question to all my mentors, do you use a software program to manipulate pictures to your liking? I'm talking sizing, clearing them up, organizing, etc. Many years back I used something called Pacassa - so many years ago and I'm thinking there may be a new and better program by now. Simple and easy to use is what I am looking for!!!!

I just use the Paint program that came loaded on my laptop. Adobe Photo Shop is supposed to be a really good program for pictures.

With my current computer I have not installed Java and that gives me a lot of random issue with stuff. My camera software doesn't really do what I want how I want (I think it does do it, but I can't find it). Plus I have a lot of browsing protections and self-imposed limitations on my internet.

But what I use to reduce the size of my images to post here is this free website that doesn't set my virus protection scans whirling into the stratosphere It's limited but very easy to use. Once I download the images I save them to my Quilting folder in my pictures tab but I can upload them onto the site still in the download file location.

I had a really nice program maybe 10 years ago that not only did the editing I wanted but also changed formats easily and had a nice system for categorizing the images. Wish I remember what it was, but it probably doesn't even exist anymore.

I have Photoshop Elements which is like Photoshop light. I'm sort of ashamed to admit that I don't know how to use most of the features, but I can use the basic ones. Unlike what I've heard about Photoshop, it's pretty easy to learn.

I use Ribbet, a free programme on-line. You can do all sorts of things on it.

Had to purchase a new computer about two months ago and for the majority of things it's a good working machine. But I downloaded pictures on my old computer in a different manner for so long that this new photo site on this one has me so confused it takes me forever to upload anything. I miss my old computer!

Also recommending Photoshop Elements. The editing features are more than you need but the ones you will be using are easy to master. The Organizer component of this software is nice and it allows tagging so that you can assign categories to photos as you review, then search for specific tags. It's reasonably priced and often on sale so be sure to search the web for deals. Older versions are good buys if you can find them and if they are compatible with your computer.
