Default piecing border strips

Do you sew them on the diagonal, like binding strips, or do you use a straight seam? I've got a solid color border, and the seam will show.

I've done them both ways. I tend to like the diagonal better but wouldn't hesitate to use straight if it worked out to look good or better.

I have done both also. depends on how much fabric i have and maybe the quilt too. if i do straight seams, i try to line the seam up with one in the quilt itself.

I tend to use diagonal for some reason. I don't see a problem using either. I guess it is what you are used to.

I prefer the diagonal, less bulk when you fold over.....have done straight when I was running short of fabric, but it does give you more bulk at that point.

I also do both. Usually, it depends on what the fabric is.

It depends on the pattern. If it's all appliqué or curves, I usually go with diagonal. If it's blocks, I sometimes continue an extra block out to the border to expand the design and disguise the seams.

My thoughts exactly, but I do lean towards diagonal piecing.

i've done it both ways, but have not had to piece very often. the quilting will help hide the seam either way.
