My friend's daughter has requested a "rainbow" lap blanket quilt. I don't think she wants actual rainbows and would be very happy with a simple strip quilt in bright colors.... but I'd like to get some ideas on what a "rainbow" quilt would mean to you!

It could also be done like a trip around the world, with the rainbow colors radiating out from the center :D:D:D

I'd use the colors of the rainbow for sure------way to many patterns to chose from. Maybe use colors slightly on the pastel side----------batiks maybe?

The Gay Pride organization uses rainbow colors--their flag is in stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
They're in bright bold colors.
not saying your friend is of that persuasion--but I've always thought that the order of their colors would look great using batiks.

A bargello would be beautiful too.
Went back & typed "rainbow" into the search on this forum and found this neat one.

I agree with thimblebug. a bargello will be perfect to do in "rainbow" batiks

I learned from my grandchildren several years ago when they say they want something in rainbow colors, they want the real rainbow colors, and in the proper order! I don't remember the order off hand, but most kids remember it.

I have about 17 FQ's picked out for the colors. I love the Trip Around the World but might need to fiddle with it to get it to work with FQs.

I always remember the colors of the rainbow as 'roy g biv,'
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

You could do something like my avatar quilt -- there's no pattern, but it's kind of like a Coins quilt, with each stack being one color range. Very easy to do.
