I think the instructions stay up for 24 hours to print, if you are like me and unable to stay caught up. You do need to complete the cutting instructions before the day if you want to try and be done on time. I am still not finished the Jan 1 mystery but I love the finished ones at the site.

I want to try it scrappy, but I still don't quite undertand the "value" concept of fabric. I hold up a few bolts at the LQS and she says, "No, not the same value." Then she puts together a group and I don't understand, they are not the same to me. Some of the fabrics are significantly darker. Oh, and when you bring in multi-colored designs I am completely lost. But it is fun learning :D and if I have the ugliest quilt, so what?

Ok. Do you all think patriotic fabric would work with this? I have enough large scale "wavy" flag fabric. The light I have a nice white. The darks I have several blues and reds with stars, fireworks etc.? I have been wanting to use for something, but not sure if I should for this mystery quilt? Opinions please................ so I can wash and cut the fabric....... tomorrow!

Just running through my head possible patterns and the suggested patriotic fabrics, and think that you will probably be fine. You might want to even pull a couple of gold colors just to pop something, which is probably suggested in your patriotic fabrics also ...
That pulling fat quarters of lights is bothersome to me ... white and I do not get along, and if it is all too light, then I hope whoever receives my quilt will get along better with whites/lights than I do ...
on the other hand, based on Angie's suggestions, I could pull some of my novelties with red family and something else ...
thinking, thinking, thinking, <g>

Is anyone as excited about the mystery day as I am? I have all the 9" and 2 7/8" squares cut. I still have the rest to do, and of course clean my sewing room so I won't be distracted by anything else that day! This is my first online mystery quilt, but I'm excited and can't wait for Sunday to get here!
I have the large scale print.... it has flowers in assorted colors, birds, butterflies, and greenery (purples, pinks yellows, golds, greens, a little tan and brown on a cream background....... I have light colors pulled in by the birds and flowers, going with dark green fernish for dark (just using one color), and sky blue (not quite solid) for the calm background.

I'm posting pic of my fabrics.............. Do you think these will work for the mystery quilt? I have a couple extra lights so I have a couple of extra choices during the day.

I love your colors, maybe would would like to trade? of course you would have to start cutting all over again, as it is I have to go hunt down somw of what I broght home the other day, sent it to get shrunk and never saw it again, i am hoping to warm up the cutting utensils and get at it today. I was hoping to have it done already, aparently I am really good at procrastinating.

I am excited, I just can't wait.
