Default Round Robin

I am thinking of doing a round robin with my church quilt group for our next raffle quilt. I plan to start it with an appliquéd center block. What would be a good general size for that to be? There are 6 of us, and I'd like to keep the size under full mattress size. Thanks in advance!

I am not overly fond of Round Robins because the rounds at the end are overwhelming. I prefer Row Robins instead so everyone does the same amount of work. If you are starting the RR, you can make the center any size you want.

I've participated in a few round robins. Usually, we've started with a center block of our choice, between 10 and 12" finished. Then the height of the rounds is prescribed, usually between 3 and 6". That still ends up with a fairly good-sized quilt in the end, so the last couple of rounds were given 2 months to finish. Some of these quilts have been gorgeous. Most of the ones I've been in have had no other rules except for size, but one that was fun suggested incorporating different things each month - squares, triangles, half-square triangles, hour glass blocks, etc. Personally, I don't like row robins as much because they end up with a rather skinny quilt (36" or so wide).

I was in a RR one time and it didn't turn out so well but since you know these other quilters then your RR will be very nice and if they need help you are there to encourage them or help them with patterns. I was in a RxR once too and that is a better way to add to the quilt. Just a personal suggestion.
