I know this sounds crazy but it would really look "out there". Use black and white check fabric like a racing flag and be sure and use bias strips for your binding. There is a designer Debra Gabel who is the brains behind Zebra Quilts. She uses that check fabric in a lot of projects. It just gives the quilts a real zing.

I did a quilt with a black and white Jacobean print binding. The print is actually large, but when it is cut down, it very, very small. I think the white would look good with the red and black. Edie

I would go with black. I love the quilt. Black and red are such a striking color combo.

Why not do both? Just start sewing random sized strips together and make that your binding.

this is an excellent drunk love!!!!!

in your opinion, was this a difficult pattern?
What was the hardest part?

I want to do one, and have been salivating over this pattern, but much too scared!

I really love your quilt. If it were mine, I would look for one of the great red, black and white prints out there and bind it with that. I think it would seit it off nicely.

Since you sister is the out there type (how fun) I would find a very deep tone of her favorite color and bind it in that. I can see a deep dark purple being perfect to give the quilt that special unexpected touch.

Since you have big blocks of color, my suggestion would be to avoid getting fussy with the border. A plain black binding would help maintain the bold impact of the quilt.
