I have the Janome you are looking at and love it. It does everything "I" want to do and is very user friendly. (I bought it at a Quilt Show where it was used for classes there at the show for about $1200 a couple of years ago. It was looked new in box and there was no evidence to me anyway that it had "ever" been used.)

I think both are good machines although I would choose the Pfaff and I've had 2 now. But I really think the most important one is to get the one that has a dealer closest to you. Go to them and see what they think is a fair price plus you need the dealer closest to you for service.

I have the quilt expression 4.0 and bought it new 2 years ago for $2000 and that was a very good price. Pfaff's have the best built in walking foot which is the reason I buy them.

I would go with the Pfaff too. I've heard good things about the Janome, but I am a die hard Pfaff fan.

I am also looking at the Janome 6600p and you can get a brand new one for about $1400. I think that $1100 for it being 5 years old is a little steep. I am a Janome worshipper so my choice would always be the Janome. Here's a link to a brand new one on Amazon.

I would let the seller know that her price is too high for a 5 year old machine

I love my Pfaff. That being said there is now a Janome dealer locally, so I would probably choose the Janome.

I am also a Janome lover. I have the 6500, 11000 and a Janome serger.

The plus about Janome is that they USUALLY come with many feet. Other brands, one has to purchase the feet separately. Something to consider.

My 2 cents worth. I'm a janome gal but in this case go with the Pfaff. It is newer and the Janome is overpriced for a used machine. Hope that helps.
