The finest solution is Sharpie Rub a Dub laundry marker. They adhere to all sorts of materials, ensuring that the lettering you create will not fade. You'll notice the durability since they aren't wiped away by water or even the spinning of a dry cleaner.

These markers are both waterproof and heat resistant. They can stick to practically any cloth or material. Some people even refer to them as fabric markers. They are packed with smudge-proof, low-odor, quick-drying ink that is resistant to washing temperatures of up to 95 degrees Celsius.
