Good fix job!
I had a pattern that called for 1/3 yard of fabric, 12" right? Then in the cutting instructions, said to cut 13" squares. I was so upset, but it was for setting triangles, so finagled it and made it work the best I could.

Doggone it anyway .. maybe see if the site can help you out ? with more specific directions ? That just stinks ! I have had problems like that on patterns (clothing and quilts),either called or written even emailed to ask for help some sites didnt want to get back with me so that is why I will never use them again, others were very happy to help out.
I hate to rip things out and lord knows how many seam rippers I have thrown across the room !LOL

On buying a pattern for making a quilt, I'm thinking it would be a nice/good thing to have a photo of an actual quilt in the pattern package, as opposed to just a drawing, which might make the chance of having an error published less likely to happen. It would hopefully show in the construction an error has been made. Just thinking! In my case, if this scenario were to happen, the whole project would probably be shucked to the bottom of the basket never to see the light of day again! Another idea ..... sell what you have done as an UFO and start from square one again! To the new owner, making the corrections might not seem as big to work with!!!! ;-P

I did follow the pattern the first time, would have worked if the squares were 4.5", not the 4" the pattern says- the fix was improvised. Thanks for all the support, sometimes you just need to vent a little to make you feel better! the fix was not too bad, and if it was many more peices to fix- it might have been put away, but only 9 blocks need to be fixed- plus I really want to make this quilt- also made a different border of appliqued alphabet. will post a pic when its done!

It is a shock to the system, so sorry, but the Board has given all the right suggestions as usual. It's a great group so I hope you will become a contributor too!
For me, thanks for posting because I learned something new - DON'T cut it all up at once. I already knew about on-line updates, I would not use a pattern if the picture looks like something from EQ7, and I almost always test a block. Now of course I'm doing a complicated pattern, have already found errors in the cut directions and misprints in which fabric to put where, and it is a huge center star with a lot of pieced borders so I can't really do too much testing...I'll have to wing it. Maybe that will give me the motivation to try applique!
