Well, we almost got there........

We got up early, packed the cooler with our lunch and drinks. Got ready, checked the cat and dogs, locked up the house and headed down the road. All was going good traffic wise till we got to the 8 mile marker from Sisters. This is where we stuck in this mess for 2 hours, stopping, slowly rolling forward about a truck length stopping again and repeated this for about 4 miles until we decided to turn around at mile marker 4. If we would have stayed in that mess we probably would have arrived at the quilt show around early next week.
So to make up for not going to the show, my husband took me to my favorite restaurant (McGrath's) for lunch. Then to JoAnn's and the Goodwill store, where I found two nice bags of fabric for 5 dollars a bag and two nice pieces of yardage. At JoAnn's I got a few things for a project this week and some odds and ends I needed.
Next year we are making reservations at a hotel in Sister's to avoid the traffic mess.

It would have been exciting to meet the gals there for lunch but we couldn't see waiting in traffic and missing our gathering if we arrived late.

We left Sisters around 10:30 after having been there since 7. Two of the gals with me were having back and leg problems, so we left early and I didn't get to meet the gals in the park either as I had hoped to do. I'm not sure which way you were trying to get in, but we saw cars lined up towards Bend for miles. And also on Hwy 26. People were parked on Highway 26 for about half a mile or so from the junction to the Hwy to Bend and walking into town. We were sure glad we had gone into town so early and had breakfast there. We watched a bunch of the quilts being hung. It was really neat.

We were in that mess headed from Bend. We don't have the option of walking that far. My husband has a blood clot in his leg and walking that far would be to much plus walking around town. So if you saw a Silver Dodge pickup in that traffic mess that was us.......lol

I'm sorry you weren't able to make it into town. The show was fabulous as usual. I didn't think there were as many people in town as there usually is, but that may be because we were there so early. I know there must have been a bunch there after we left because we did leave quite early. I and I am sure some others will post some pictures after I get home and have a chance to go through all the pictures we took.

I'm so sorry you didn't make it! We got a last minute town home, just a five minute walk into the show. We got here last night about 8 pm, no traffic at all.

And WoW! It has been quite a day with a new bunch of quilts to see everytime we turn around. We saw Alex Anderson and Ricky Timms signing autographs. Mostly meandered around and drank gallons of water. The Stitchin' Post is awesome but way too many people to really look around.

After hearing your stories, I'm soooo glad we got this place close in.
