Making 9" blocks 12" blocks question/help
#1
Sooo, I did a search here and just want to make sure i am thinking correctly. Would really appreciate the help.
I have a big book with blocks in it. They are all 9 inch blocks. i want to make them 12 inch blocks.
So my thinking is that if I add 25% to the measurement of each piece for a block, then it should sew out to 12 inch instead of 9 inch.
Is this right??

BLOCK SIZE WANTED (divided by) CURRENT BLOCK SIZE = PERCENT TO ENLARGE OR REDUCE
Example:
To enlarge: Size you want = 12" and Current size = 4"
12/4=3 (answer times 100 = 300%)
To reduce: Size you want = 7" and Current size = 12"
7/12=.58 (answer times 100 = 58%)
Example:
To enlarge: Size you want = 12" and Current size = 4"
12/4=3 (answer times 100 = 300%)
To reduce: Size you want = 7" and Current size = 12"
7/12=.58 (answer times 100 = 58%)

I haven't picked out a specific one. I am in the boomerang swap and was just trying to find something different. I think i will probably just use quilter's cache. it has a ton of stuff on it.
All the math makes my brain tired. LOL
Thanks for the fast answers!

BUT he says make sure you measure after you print because you are going from an odd measurement to an even measurement. Don't forget your 1/4 in seam allowances!!
I hate math too. He's my "go to" guy for math..
Faith :XD:
