My favorite fabrics to stock up on when I can are tone on tone fabrics, mostly white and beige, but other colors as well. I think the tone on tone used as a background makes for a more interesting quilt. If it's a great sale, I'll try to pick up some fabrics I can use for backings of my quilts, especially since I make mostly bed size quilts. But if a fabric just happens to fall into my cart, telling me to take them home with me, I usually do. LOL.

My local fabric store just closed. I just went in and got anything that appealed to me.

It just so happens that every few years that is what happens to me. I get to go to a ginormous fabric store on our travels and I have learnt over the years to take a few patterns with me so I don't end up with fabric that is looking for a home for a while. I always purchase more than I need and this helps build my stash. Also backings, layer cakes and a few gifts for my quilting friends.

Oh this is slightly off topic. I live in So. CA. Which quilt store is closing? OH NO!

My great quilt store is any in Hawaii. I buy lots of tropical and Hawaiian fabric and ship it home. It seems cheaper there than in So. CA . I love cotton Hawaiian shirts. They are so cool in summer here.
