How much are you allowed to bring in each per day? I know that coming into the EU, you can each have $45 value before there is any tax on it (in a shipped box). We can bring in via the airport whatever we want in our bags as long as it is "ours".

I mean, of course, as long as it is legal product. Plus we aren't allowed to carry more than 10,000 $ in person. I can't imagine why Canada wouldn't let you bring in pretty much whatever you want.

I recently bought a bunch of batting from Connecting Threads, they were all on sale and since my total bill was more than $50 the shipping was free. Not sure that they carry Warm & Natural but they do have several brands. I like Hobbs 80/20 but also ordered some different type battings to try out.

thanks for clearifing that.... I didnt mean for anyone to smuggle it in. I know you have to declair it. Still sounds better. and someone said JoAnns is high even with the discount. they are correct. I by W&N wholesale from the factory and I know JoAnns markes up at least 3 times, then puts on sale, so they are still making a profit. Kingsmen is good to deal with also.

Yes, but Kingsmen charges $10 shipping (unless I am missing a *free* shipping link somewhere on the site) which brings the queen batt to $25, more than the $17 deal she got at JoAnn's.

I bought a 40 yard roll of 45" W&N batting for $80, which was 50% off Joann's regular price. Shipping was $12. EVERY other site I checked charged upwards of $140 PLUS shipping.

I can't for the life of me see why anyone would buy from anyone BUT Joann Fabric...for bolts of W&N anyway. I don't know about other brands, so I can't speak to that.

I agree w/ another poster on how far apart is acceptable. A product may say it can be 8" apart, but that would not look as nice, in my opinion.

(I'm sure OP realizes there's no need for smuggling. We have folks by the busload who come down from CA, mainly Toronto, to shop @ local outlet mall.)

www.fabric.com carries batting and ships internationally. Unfortunately, their free shipping w/ a $35 order only pertains to USA orders. No idea what shipping would be, but it'd be worth the time to fill out the order and find out - you can always not finalize it.

Good luck! And if you go to AZ every year, next year you should stock up while you are in the States (where we complain endlessly about our taxes without realizing how lucky we really are).

Yes but it required a 50% off sale plus presenting an additional 15% of coupon and driving there so she had the cost of gas and wear and tear on her vehicle and I would think the time she spent driving to and from Joannes and selecting her purchase off the shelf and waiting in line to check out is easily worth $10.

I will concede if you happen to be one of the fortunate few who get coupons (I have signed up numerous times and have yet to ever receive one) and you live very close to JoAnnes and you can wait until they do a 50% off sale AND have a coupon then by all means go to JoAnnes.

I have found less expensive options where I can shop at MY convenience, order from the comfort of my computer and get it delivered right to my doorstep and I don't have to wait for a "sale". I long ago gave up on JoAnnes when I finally realized that they have inflated prices to make you THINK you are getting such a great deal when they advertise 50% off when in reality you are just paying the normal retail price of your LQS or an online source PLUS shipping.

I have ordered batting from Hancocks of Paducha. They sometimes have a free shipping event where Canadians can get free shipping with a $100 purchase, this can include up to 2 battings. I will stock up on their clearance fabrics and solids, and a couple of battings. I did get charged from customs once, only $20. that would have been about what I would have paid for tax anyhow here. If you sign up for their email updated, they have a free shipping event every few months.
