When I had to have an operation a few years ago I took my quilt with me. I felt like Linus and MY quilt was going to keep me warm, give me comfort, and keep my mind on getting well and going home. It was also the first quilt I had made (or rather finished) to keep. It also turned out as a great ice breaker with the nurses. So don't sell yourself short. A gifted quilt is great but one you make yourself is priceless.

Best way to stop feeling sorry for yourself or feeling left out Ms. Shawn is to get busy. If you're making one for you inlaws - make one for yourself too. You don't need a sample. Just look at all of the tutorials on the internet. The Lord helps those who help themselves. Get busy girl :) Hugs!

Madqilter ....I guess I never thought of it that way either. You know how us mommas are, we always think of ourselves last!!
Ms. Shawn, I guess we need to get busy!

I think that if you made your own,you would be so much happier. You have to start somewhere. That is the joy of quilting. Then you will become addicted like the rest of us and have a ton of ufos!!Look at the you tube with the Missouri quilt tutorials. They have the best ideas.

I'm sorry no one every made a quilt for you, but I figured out some time ago that I would be happiest if I met my own needs first and that by doing so I would have more to give to others and others would do more for me. So make a quilt for yourself in your very favorite colors. Make it big enough to wrap around you twice, and every time you use it, remind yourself how much you love yourself.

I am privileged to have quilts from both deceased grandmothers and my mother as well. However, there is no joy like having a quilt that you made yourself.

You can work on more than one quilt at a time. Sometimes, I have three or four going at once. I only started this pleasant hobby at the end of 2002. I have made approximately 100 tops. Many of them are not quilted, but they are being marked off the list one by one. I have not kept count of the number of charity quilts that I have made for the sick, abused, children of soldiers, etc.

It is truly more blessed to give than receive.

It is also a great pleasure to say. "I made it myself."
