I want to buy the book or a pattern to make a quilt like this, and I am confused by the books I am finding online.

or you could get one of the books by Maxine Rosenthal and Joy Pelzmann.
I have One-block wonders Encore and it covers the basic OBW and some of the cubes.
The first book also covers OBW done in octagons and the 3rd book One-block wonders cubed has some of the basics and more of the 3D cubes.
There are a lot of people here to ask for help if you get stuck at any stage.

I would say you definitely need one of the books that Woody mentions - not only for the construction details but also for all the tips and advice on layout and design. I think this is what really makes or breaks these quilts and for this information, the books are invaluable. For Stack n Whack as opposed to OBW, you need one of the Bethany Reynolds books.

OK, so theres not a specific book/pattern about how to make them laid out like yours, k3n, you guys just figured out how to do it with the stack and whack obw instructions. Thats why I was confused when I was looking at the various books, none of the books seemed to have quilts like yours.

Yes there is - the books I learned from are the One Block Wonder books by Maxine Rosenthal... it's a technique and you need to learn the principles. The actual design is then your own. But those books do have quilts in this style - the layouts always vary but that is the beauty of them - and coming up with ways to do the borders, embellishments etc. :-D For me it's been a learning curve - my eariler ones were more straightforward but I'm getting more and more adventurous the more I make. I'm up to about 17 now! :shock: :lol:
