What a nice story, I am so happy for you. I love my Viking machine.

I do have to admit, purchasing the feet you need is not cheap. You have to get the walking foot. Maybe they have discounts occasionly, that is when I got mine.

Good for you! Ruby will be your friend for many years!

I do know how to sew but haven't for many years and so the Singer machine I got new 25 yrs ago has been just fine. I believe it was one of their best back then. Anyway, after reading on this board for almost a year now, I read all about the wonderful machines you all have (some have quite a lot :)) I knew that eventually I would by a new machine. Today, there was someone actually there to have a conversation with! Well, I had to get a tissue out to wipe the drool...heehee! She showed me the Husqvarna-Viking Designer "Ruby". It was $500 off of the price and I would get $550 in "Viking" dollars to spend at the end of this month. Now this is not the most ideal time to get a new toy that I would need some training in because this is the busiest time of the year for my DH and I in our business (tax season). We left, went to lunch, talked about it, started going home (20 min from home)......turned around to go back and get it :-D So yes my friends on this board, I have a new toy named Ruby and can't wait to use it. Now I feel like I have big girl pants on like most of you have  Thanks for letting me share my good news and I know this is such a great place for advice.

You go girl - Congrats

I just realized that the Ruby is an embroidery machine too. You will just love that.

I belong to a quilting guild and a machine embroidery club.

I bought myself a late Christmas present today - a black featherweight Singer. It works like a charm, has the original carrying case and a tray of accessories.

Definitly look into the software, 5D Embroidery. It is sooo worth the money, I have the 5D Extra which is just 1 step down from the professional. I could not see spending the extra money on the professional package only because I just didnt see myself digitizing. I will never use all the 5D Extra does and I am totally happy with it. I went from 3D to 4D to 5D would not sew without it.
