Trying to design a new quilt for the past few days.. does anyone have a suggestion for a fabric that has a definite striped effect to the design???? I love the fabric, but realize that cutting and layout will be limited, unless I find something that will look wonderful with a one way fabric. Help, please.

Hi and welcome from the sunny state of Florida!! I have only used striped fabrics for bias bindings. I'm sure a lot of people will have some great suggestions for you!

Try a patch pattern using colors that match or blend.
Maybe a solid with another stripe similar to the orginal.
I love the fabric.

I love that fabric but like you have no idea what to make with it.

love the fabric, and have no idea on pattern for you

Is an absolutely amazing fabric. You can make almost anything with it, as long as you are careful what to match it with. It will definitely show better against anything solid or toned batik with no print on it.

How about something like this? http://quilting.about.com/od/blockof...sket_weave.htm

A basket weave maybe?

I used a stripe in the center of my D9P -- I was very careful after cutting to make sure the stripe went the same way in every block

(the quilt looks a little like rainbow vomit, but it's all turtle fabric, and i LOVE it!)

I love it too!!! :D

I actually can see it as the point of stars. It would have a radiating effect.

I like to use strip fabrics for sashings cut with the strips running crosswise not lengthwise, or cut on the bias. Also for borders cut this way. With a narrow stop border (just learned this term this week on the Board) you could use any pattern and I would like to use lots of bright colors like your fabric.

You could open up the weave, putting the magenta in the spaces to look like woven ribbons on a background of dots. That stripe is certainly strong enough to work well with it going both ways in the weave. Something like this:

I like what you did with your stripe and the original one in question could be done the same way only use it in the larger squares because it is a lwider stripe I also think some corresponding starred fabric would be nice to use.
