Featherweight made in 1951? It looks to be belt driven and in decent shape. The cabinet looks like it could use some oil, but the machine itself is clean and pretty.

I am wondering if this is a good price for the machine and cabinet, or if I should offer a bit less.....if so, how much less?

Thanks for any and all advice!

that is almost a rock bottom price for a featherweight.

sounds good depends on condition, does it have a case, does it have the attachments.

Are you sure it's a featherweight? I haven't seen one in a cabinet. If it is a featherweight and it works, that is a good price.

Make sure it's a FW. They are 221 or a rarer 222. They normally were sold with a table, not a cabinet. If it's a 221 or 222, that's a great price.

You know, I may be full of beans about its being a featherweight. The serial number is: AK693582

I located the serial number here: http://www.planetpatchwork.com/fweight.htm which is why I thought it was a FW.

Here are two pictures....I sent them to my DH who said the same thing you did, that it did not look like a featherweight.

Can anyone tell what it is then?

Thanks all!

If it is truly a featherweight in a cabinet, it would be an excellent price. I'd jump on it. Make sure, though, that it is truly a featherweight. Some sellers get "confused" between a Singer 99 and a featherweight. A 99 is quite heavy, and is larger than a featherweight.

Okay, after looking at the photo, it looks like my 201. A great machine I am very fond of.

But not a featherweight?

Featherweights usually come in the black box with the handle on the top. The left side of the base folds up. Hope this shows you the differences.

Sample featherweight very light - black case usually

Sample 201 - Very heavy - Wooden Case or Cabinet
