June,
This sounds like a great idea. I am going to have to try it. I just used 100+ pins to lay out a baby quilt, and am not looking forward to getting stuck 100+ times while I quilt it. Thanks for the tip. Julie

I use the Elmer's School Glue Stick. You can see where it is, you don't get a thick guppy glob, and you can get it at a lot of the dollar type stores. I swipe it on the backing, lay the batting on it and press with my fingers to make sure there is good contact. I then do exactly the same thing with the quilt top. Works for me.

go to www.sewforless.com I just bought so before Christmas for $14.99 a can I usually buy two cans for this has to be shipped UPS. I buy this here at the local quilt shop and it was $23.99. Too much

Some girls on another groups were talking and they are using cheap hairspray to baste their quilts. If you are going to wash your quilt when finished ... no problems.

Hmmm....cheap hairspray sounds interesting, may try it, but for now, I'm good with the Elmers!

Another glue stick supporter here.....Dollar General, back to school sales. I stock up for next to nothing.

I use Elmer's washable glue right out of the bottle to baste everything. I wouldn't pay that much for a basting spray.

It,s $34.00 here in Ontario Canada plus taxes.
As for it not working well, I have been using it for about 3 years & am VERY happy with the results (except for the fumes) but I leave a window open & have my ceiling fan to help circulate the air. |
That's why I use Elmers School Glue. You don't have any toxic fumes

I don't know where you are in Ontario piker6ca but I live in Northern Ontario (Timmins) & at our Fabricland it is $27.00 but I only buy it when they have their 1/2 price sale. Just some information, I was in our local WalMart Super store & the same can sells for about $16.00 there.
