I am so glad for this thread, because I have wondered about the black strips as well. This has been very helpful.

I have admired Stained Glass Quilts but never really thought about the process so much as to what colors of fabric would I use to achieve such beautiful results. Read this thread yesterday and was thinking of adding one to my long long list of projects. Today's Daily Deal at Missouri Star Quilt Co seems perfect to me. 10 inch squares of a "rainbow" of colors looks perfect to me.
Good Grief, there goes my fabric moratorium and plans to complete the projects I already have fabric for instead of buying for another one. I must be strong.....

Murphy - if the shipping to UK didn’t make it prohibitive I would snap that deal up lol

You need the strips to be 3/4 inch wide, as there is a seam on each side. I've made lots of stuff with these black lines in them [(or green lines or gold lines, etc.). They are super easy. When you sew the second seam of the tiny strip, you just butt the quarter inch foot against the last seam. Makes a very accurate strip easily.
