quarter inch walking foot...does it exist?

I dont know, but it could darn sure come in handy!!!!!

My Janome 6600 has an acufeed foot (which is a built in walking mechanism) that is 1/4 inch but I have never seen one that would go on other machines. It will be interesting to see if someone has heard of one.

I'd like to glue, weld, melt or whatever I have to do to invent one.

I actually don't use mine for piecing very often, but I love it for the binding!!

I have a Bernina and my walking foot has a mark for 1/4". It comes in handy.

A 1/4" mark is helpful...but to me it's not the same as having that guide....I don't want to look like this :shock: when I'm sewing...I need to be able to blink my eyes instead of watching that mark.
An adjustable guide on a walking foot needs to be invented.

:) I hope it's helpful to know that Bernina has 2 quarter inch feet. The first is a #37 and the other is a #57 that has a guide. I have both and use the #57 all the time. It gives that "scant" 1/4". Before that I measured w/a ruler under my needle and stacked up masking tape to guide the fabric. Good luck!

PS: I see you're looking for a 1/4" Walking Foot. I guess you could use the masking tape or measure the Walking Foot, there may be a mark on it you could use. I seems I've done that before.

Are there lines on your sewing machine- to the right of the feed dogs?

I've been sewing for years and only recently realized that they are guides for seam allowances. On the old Singers I have, they are in 1/8 inch increments, I'm not sure what they are on my 1980's Pfaff.

There are just SO many times that the machine bed is not visible when you need to sew a quarter inch seam, especially with a walking foot! Binding, echo quilting, top stitching are a few that come to mind right off the bat. You really need to be able to have the guide above the fabric, not below it, for those times! My walking foot has two slide in guides for grid quilting, but you can't adjust them small enough for a quarter inch seam and there is no marking on the foot itself.

(I'm betting the guides on your Pfaff are metric, bearisgray, like those on my Viking.)
