I use the June Taylor shape cut to cut all of my strips, no matter what size. Perfect cuts everytime. Worth every penny I spent to buy it.

I got mine at my LQS.

THere is a yard stick that is 1.25" wide, but seems very flimsy being that long and thin!

Wow, that's a bummer! I am sure glad I got mine (years ago) when I did. I do a lot of baby quilts and I just love the chevron quilt motif. I make a big x using my Omnigrid yardstick and then I mark chevrons on all 4 sides of the x. It looks great and is just straight line quilting, so it goes faster.

The ruler is cool because it counts down from the middle on both sides so you can center with it. My advice it to check out your LQS to see if they still have them in stock.

Does anyone know where I can find/order a 1-1/2" ruler? I'm new to quilting and need all the help I can get.

Being one that has cut herself very badly with a rotary cutter, it really scares me to think of you trying tohold a ruler that narrow. Mark your line on a larger ruler on the back side with blue painters tape.

a ruler that narrow for strip cutting could actually be dangerous because it could so easily slip. I personally would not use it for that. get a 6.5" ruler with 1/2" marking on the
one side & whole " on the other. 12" long is the most useful.
cut slowly & "walk" your fingers along the ruler after you make the first cut. actually, with a 12" ruler, you would not need to move your hand. Practice on some cheap muslin or ugly fabric until you get the hang of cutting WOF strips.

JoAnn's has a 2.5" called Buddy Binder. It is over 20" long, but thinner than Omnigrid. I use it for strips and to cut binding. Love it.

I got a 2 1/2 inch by 18 inch ruler at JoAnn's. It's great for cutting 2 1/2 inch strips.

I buy plexy glass and get my son to cut me the size I need for rulers so that I am sure I am always cutting the right size. It is easy to get the 3/4 line or some other line by mistake.

You can go to your local glass place, they usually have plexiglass, and they will cut it for you, it's not very expensive.

It took me awhile to find mine. I purchased a Steel Carpenter Square and one Side is 1 1/2 inches. I have never found anything else. Hope this will help. Karen
