Hello everyone. I've never used the 10 degree wedge before and would like to make x-mas tree skirts for gifts. This is a two part question. :)

1. Could you tell me if it matters if pieces are cut on lengthwise or crosswise grain?

2. For the "center" dia....do I determine what diameter I want it to be and cut starting from that "inch". Example: If I want a 10" opening, do I place the wedge on the 10" line on fabric "cut" edge?
