10 inch squares

What pattern is suitable for 10 inch squares, without having to cut blo k smaller?

ckcowl 02-03-2019 04:06 AM

Big block Patchwork, or snowball blocks could be made with 10” squares.

tupoms 02-03-2019 04:48 AM

Shadow Boxing by Jordan Fabrics would be good.

The latest Missouri star quilt co tutorial is a quilt using ten inch squares.

Snooze2978 02-03-2019 05:39 AM

Rob's Burst Block has a lot of cutting but uses pretty much most of the 10 inch square.

Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company has tons of tutorials using 10" squares!

Mo. Star's Big Wonky Star is a nice one.

I like the double slice layer cake pattern from MSQ. Yes, it is cut but then reassembled and each section is still large enough to see the beauty of the fabric. It is also fast. I finished a top in 1/2 day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxC-0T5lXw4

Yes, that's true, but she cuts up the squares most of the time and usually wastes some of it.

romanojg 02-04-2019 06:38 AM

Crafty Gemini is doing a free one right now. The blocks are 10, only have two seams but do need a little squaring off when finished. Its cute, it ends up having 3 pieces to a square. She's on you tube.

10 inch squares

Does anyone have a pattern on how to use the pre-cut 10 inch squares, without having to cut them down to a smaller size? I would love to have an easy pattern.

Kwiltr 02-04-2019 08:35 AM

Have you checked Moda Bake Shops free patterns for layer cake quilts or search Pinterest? I’m sure you’d find something there :).

Depends on the size you want your finished quilt...but if you take a " block" pattern meant for using 5" squares ( lots on Missouri quilt you tube tutes), you would then have a very large block that could serve as a quilt's center for full sized one, or the entire quilt if doing lap or throw size.

Rose_P 02-04-2019 09:25 AM

Ten-minute block: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbTHlGGKMPM

It's not totally without waste, but at least you can start right in without cutting the squares down.

Missouri Star Quilt Co. has a lot of free tutorials on patterns using 10" squares. Good luck and let us know what pattern you decide on. Also, on Pinterest you can type in patterns made with 10" squares and you will see a lot of ideas.

MSQC's double slice quilts uses 10" squares I have made many of them.

Darcyshannon 02-04-2019 11:20 PM

You could combine them with a background fabric and make giant HST.

WMUTeach 02-05-2019 04:20 AM

The Double Slice by Jenny Doan does not waste any of the 10" square.

Bobbielinks 02-05-2019 06:58 AM

My favorite is Walk in the City

Framed/Silk Road life has a free pattern. I'm working on now from a recommendation from someone on this site.

No waste. I'm liking how mine is turning out.
