There are a few other threads about the 10 min block pictured here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbTHlGGKMPM
When I watch the video, I can follow how to make the block. What I don't understand how she is able to make the cathedral curve. Is there just excessive fabric when you open the block up? |
The light center will have a bias folded edge when you open out the block. Just grab the center of it and pull back. This gives you the curve. Sort of an eyebrow shape, wider in the middle, pointed at the ends. You can do this with any size square, just make sure all five squares are the same size.

Isn't that a TRIP??? |
Well, the inside square is actually lose (3-D) and needs to be sewn down. You can either sew it down straight (topstitching, as she says) or you turn the edge in for the curved cathedral window look.. I actually did a more involved version of this using the faux-cathedral window youtube instruction.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvXUvKIzYZY It takes longer than 10 minutes, but I love the look. |
Yup!!! Basically excessive fabric & some smoke & mirrors.....!
