What size squares should I start with to get a 12.5 inch ten minute block?

i did a small qlt with charms (5 inch) sqs. but it's a bit difficult to open the inserted square easily to sew that 3rd seam. larger sqs are easier but it can be done.

for a 12.5 inch blk you would start with 6.5 squares. it's just a four patch with an inserted square. easy to figure that way.

I think that what ever size block you use, if you want a larger center, just don't go over 1/2 (minus your seam allowance) the measuement of the other 4 blocks. It can be made any size.
