I have been keeping track of my hours spent on this Bali Wedding Star quilt. I dont think Im slow but Im 100 hours into the project and Im looking at about another 100 just to get it pieced.

Im a sprinter not a marathoner so this one is killing me.

I will have to find my camera. I am not even to the place where I can make a block! There are just stacks of 550 "sections" almost ready to be put into blocks. I need to finish 200 more sections.

I have only made two other quilts in my life that took this long. One for my parents anniversary and one for my sister.

I can't wait to see the pics also. Sounds fabulous!

Is this one for yourself?

Just think of the sense of accomplishment you will have when it is finally finished!

Hang in there.

I remember when you posted about getting this pattern, I just had to look it up and it was beautiful. I am sure that is one of those quilts that would take me a life time to make though. Good luck and keep at it you will see it coming together quicker than you think I'm sure!

Yes it is definitely for me. I thought it would take a lifetime but I am obsessed. I started this the weekend before Memorial Day and I will have it pieced by the end of the Fourth of July weekend.

I dont want to get burnt out so my GF did an intervention today and we went out.

I remember a guest at our quilt guild said she had spent over 800 hours on making a quilt. Her name is Kathy Mc Neil, and her quilts are fabulous. I believe that included design time as well as everything else.

I bet its going to be great when your done!

For one of my quilts I needed about 1000 hours to finish it. 2000 meters of handquilting thread are used in it. I must admit it was a hard way to go through - but after finishing the quilt I was soooo proud.

I bought this boxed pattern also but have not started it yet (I'm still working on Japanese Fans and Dear Jane). Are you going through tons of fabric or using the Bali Pops? I have heard different people comment that they are not perfectly cut and have had to improvise. What color combinations are you doing yours in? Can't wait to see pics! I know with all the time spent it will be priceless. Hugs

I would love to see a picture of where you are, your color-way, and progress!
