I thought that this was an interesting and unique quilt, and that you may enjoy reading a little of the history behind it too. It proves that quilters have/will use anything to make a quilt :D
It amazing that it has survived this long, not to mention how well it has been preserved. I wish that they would exhibit it locally one more time before it is sent to GA. http://www.chronline.com/news/articl...tml?mode=image I also found the quilt mentioned in a rock and mineral forum, where one of the family members has posted private pictures of it, as well as a little more information. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page. http://mcrocks.websitetoolbox.com/po...federate+quilt |

What an amazing piece. It has certainly lasted well....wonder what the notes were actually made from...might have had a content of linen or cotton.
|
That is what I am thinking too, earthwalker...
Oddly, there isn't much info available on this quilt, or atleast that I could find. |
Wow!!!!

Amma, thank you so much for posting this info.
My hubby being a CW collector will be amazed with these two articles. All I can say is WOW. Awesome, thanks again for posting. Blessings & happy sewing. Sandi |
