I am trying to get my mothers old featherweight up and running again. Mom passed away years ago, and I now need to sew a few projects. Well at least I am going to try to sew them. I need sleeves to go on the rails of a border hoop that I have made. It should be simple but I can't figure out how to run the thread on the featherweight.
Does anyone know of a video or a website that can walk me through the steps to load the machine with thread? -Harry |
Please take extra good care of that Featherweight!
Here's a tutorial: http://sewingneedlework.suite101.com...sewing_machine |

Here's a link on how to oil it too. Please make sure that you keep it clean and oiled properly. Those machines are worth their weight in gold--I know, I finally found one to purchase last year after searching for nearly 20 years and although it was more than what I wanted to pay I did it anyway. |
Harry,
There is a VingtageSingersGroup@YahooGroups. This is a very knowledgeable group with tons of insturctions in the files to help. The members are very helpful and will point you to information to help on the net. They also help with step by step instructions. It is members only and you do need to be approved, but it may be just exactly what you require. You can go to the Singer's website and download a manual and also download parts/maintenace manuals. Good luck! |
Go to the Singer's website. You should be able to download a manual.

Oh, I am going nuts now with the bobbin. I can't get it to catch the thread. I will keep reading your posts. Arggg!

It sounds like the bobbin is in the machine the wrong way. I know that was the problem when the girl I purchased mine from yesterday was trying to pull up the bobbin thread it wouldn't come up and she had to turn it over and all was fine. Kacy
