Can anyone shed a little light on an old machine. I think it was made in 1956. The name on the machine is Fabric. I need a bobbin. The light still works. Does anyone know where I can get a bobbin for this machine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How about a picture? Hard to determine what kind of machine without a picture.

I'll post one later this evening, but looks just like an older model Singer. Black with Gold (nice looking machine).

Thanks, Lynn

A picture of a bobbin you have would help. Even to take one to the fabric store to ask is a good idea. Good luck.

Its probably not a Singer because Singers did not badge their machines with a different name. What you most likely have is a Japanese 15 as that was the most common . Those are very good machines. I just got one myself. If it is a 15 clone then it takes the standard class 15 bobbin

Here is a pic of mine other then the different name does it look like this

You are a superstar. It does look like that. I couldn't believe I didn't check to see if there was a bobbin in the casing but if I get a standard 15 you think that will work? Also, the rubber on the bobbin winder had dry rotted so I'll have to get one of those. Do you know where I can get parts for these machines?

Here is where you can get the tire ring. I have not ordered from this place or anything someone told me about it

When looking for parts look for parts for a singer 15
Also if you want a manual you can go on Singers site and look for singer 15 and it should be pretty close.

Bobbins you can get at Joanns Walmart and such they are easy to get just get the class 15 bobbin

Enjoy your machine! and we would still love pics when you get the chance.
Also check out the vintage machine shop thread here
Lots of great info

If it looks like her picture, AbbyQuilts is right on all counts. :)

I would order the replacement bobbins from sew-classic.com, as well as the winder tire, felt rings, spool pins, light bulbs, cords, motors, plates and anything else you need. Jenny at sew-classic is just super at what she does and I always check with her first to see if she has what I need.

The class 15 bobbins you can buy at the fabric stores are sometimes not very good quality - but Jenny catches bad batches and sends them back to her vendors when she gets them. The stores don't have time to do that kind of quality check the way these small mom&pop businesses do. :)

She also has a downloadable manual for a Singer 15 on her site - might not be an exact match in the pictures, but I'd bet it'd be close enough. :)

Thanks to all who helped guide me in the right direction. I ordered parts for my new girl (using your suggestions) and they have already been shipped. I will keep you posted on her makeover.
