I just received a UFO started in 1987, and have 2 blocks and parts for 10 more started. I also got the extra material and original instructions for completing the quilt. However...it was a 6 month installment BOM series. I wonder if anyone has the template instructions for the remaining blocks.
The quilt is from July/August 1987 "Quilter's Newsleter Magazine" a New Series Quilt: Log Cabin Home Sampler, Part One. I would be more than willing to pay for photocopies and postage for the rest of the instructions. I would not want to disrupt any library of magazines...Heaven Forbid!!!!! :-( I have added photos of what I have received...the original was done in browns....the UFO is in patriotic colors. I really need to consider a much larger "design wall." |
I'll look tomorrow and see if I have them. I have maybe 30 or 40 old Quilters Newsletters.
|
I have a box full of these magazines. I will go thru them and let you know. I will start tonight. That's one magazine I haven't put into Binders yet by date. Be back shortly
|
Mine went back to 1997 only. Sorry.
|
ohhhhh!!!!
Thank You.....Thank you.....Thank you. For checking.. |

Since you have the picture of all the blocks I wonder if you could find the blocks on quilter's cache and make them the size you need. |
Make any blocks the size I need? Hadn't even considered that possiblility. Well.... Thank you (I am such a newbie).:-(

cool quilt
|
I just googled a while and no luck on 1987 log cabin home sampler. But you could just use any log cabin patterns in your size. YOu can look up log cabin blocks in google and go from there . Good luck. Maybe Rapture will have it.
By the way, I have been to Puyallup several times. Used to live in Kent ,WA for 3 years. I miss the fairs there and the earthquake burgers and scones. Wa. is a beautiful state and cool. I am melting here in Texas LOL. HOpe you find it. |
It's going to be a cool quilt.
|
The log cabins are all ready done, the blocks that you would need are just classic quilt blocks set on point, like the bear claw, and the nosegay. thats the only two blocks that I actually know the name of but I am sure if start another post asking for the names of the blocks in that quilt someone here will know them, they might even be listed in the article that is next to the quilt in the photo! If they are list them here and we can help you find the blocks you need.
|
The only names given are bear's Paw (completed) and the basket (completed). Nosegay (not competed or cut out), and Log Cabin Unit
In the box, I also found cut parts for Maple Leaf, Honey Bee, and Pine Tree. in the same colors of the quilt. These are suppose to have instructions in 'Red Book...Sample Quilt...Pg 45.' 'red cover...Sampler Quilt...pg 65.' Of course....the red cover magazine inclosed only has 30 pages. Oh Well. I just have to figure out how to put the blocks together. Thank you for all your help. And...we have had a wonderfully cool summer so far. Sorry for all the heat in the rest of the country. |
I have a bunch of old ones too, so I will look for you!
|
do you have EQ7? The blocks maybe in that library. Or if you have the names someone can look for you. I will ...........

Might try contacting Quilter's Newsletter they do keep some of the projects in the archives. The Fig Leaf offered it as a year long class. They are located in Fort Collins CO

That is Really Pretty, Good Luck.....If all else fails make a lap size log cabin, and pillows out of the finished blocks. (Yes, My bad) :)
