2 inch Border. light dark light dark
 

I'm making a border that consist of 2 inch squares, every other one being a light color and the other different shades of green. My question is can I sew a bunch of strips together then cross cut them 2.5 inches? Or should I cut a bunch of 2.5 inch squares and chain them light dark when sewing? Which is more accurate? The strips I'd think would be easier and faster.. but what do you think? Thanks. d

I'd strip cut it! I'm with you on the faster and easier.

Definitely strip it! Less chance of the squares being pulled out of grain.

Strip cut and strip sew ... Its so much faster and I think a more precise method.

Yes to the strips.

Just remember to keep re-checking that the strips are still sitting square every 3-4 cut. It's not uncommon to have to re-square the strips every now and then.

So long as you want the placement of the colours to be consistent, as would be created with the strip cuts ... go for it!
If you want random colours/fabrics, then this isn't the way to go.

i vote for the strips

I say strips, if you can.

If your going to be sewing several strips together, I would sew 2 together, but when you add the next one start sewing at the opposite end, and so on.
