2nd Race Car T-shirt quilt, what to do?

I have attached a picture of my t-shirt quilt top I made for a friend. He wants a red border on it + the backing will be that same color red, I attached a picture of the red/burgandy color. What are your thoughts on the color thread I should use to quilt it? I will be doing and all over meandering pattern for the quilting. Should I use a different color on top & bottom, and what color do you think will look nice? Thanks :)

I think you want to pick something which will blend with all the shirts. I'm thinking white or something light coloured. Given that, you probably don't want to use red for the bobbin thread - too much risk of the threads showing on the wrong side. But a contrasting colour on the backing would probably look really nice, so I'd use the same light-coloured thread top and bottom.

Depends on the tension on your machine. If you have great tension, that is the bobbin and top thread don't show on the 'wrong' side, then go ahead and use different colors in each. However, if your quilting is nice, using the same color thread (light grey?) in both, with show off your quilting on the back.

Great job! I'd use same color thread for front and back and I'd prewash the red fabric for sure!

What a great looking quilt!!

I can't help you with your question, but, I wanted to tell you how much I really enjoyed your black & white sashing between the blocks.

Thanks everyone...I am soo torn...I really want to do white thread on top and red thread (to match the backing)..I am going to have my tension perfect though which is going to be super hard....I know some people have said even if you have a couple of peep spots after a washing they will pull to the center and you won't notice them...decisions decisions...
I wonder, if I do white on both sides...I wonder how that will look with white thread and red backing...?? |

Finallly I got it done. I chose light gray for the backing thread and white for the top. |
