My grandsons were coming over so Gammy could show them how to sew just a little bit, when they got here the 1st thing the oldest asked was "what is this for & can I use it" it was my rotary cutter I said No it's very very sharp so of course while clearing off the table sliced the side of my finger bled like a stuck pig. Grandson said your right Gammy I don't want to use that!

"Pride goeth before a fall!" I once said that and managed to cut myself several times in the same day. froggyintexas

I can't express enough that it is not if but when. Please use a safety tool when cutting each and every cut.

I was cleaning up my room and rotary cutter fell to floor. OF course I had the blade out and it landed blade side on my foot and cut a nice clean slice where my toe connects to my foot Superglue to the rescue and no scar and no infection. I guess superglue has to be included with my quilting notions.

Sadly, I am a member of the club. I didn't see how it could happen either, but it did.

After 10+ years of quilting, I joined the "club" 3 weeks ago -- I cut of the side/tip of my finger at a nice angle (LOL). Hurt like the dickens. No stitches, nothing to stitch. It has healed over nicely but it is still very tender. I was so mad at myself, and I'm still not sure how I managed it.

A dear friend presented me with a gift of guards that stick onto the ruler, and they're great!

Never mind cutting yourself with the rotary cutter. I was making some sofa cushions and cutting off the surplus piping - I thought to myself this I very tough piping ad when I looked had cut off the top of my knuckle! Luckily in England we have the National Health Service so did not have to pay .

I joined the club a few yrs ago and had a trip to the ER. sliced the side of my pointer finger off. Oh I just hated the though of stitches but the Doc . put Jelly Foam on it. to me it looked like Styrofoam . when he put that on my finger it sort of melted over my cut and the pain was completely gone. Its the most amazing stuff. Its a good thing to remember if you get a cut.
