3 yard quilts
 

I have several of Donna Robertson 3 yard quilt books. It is mentioned in every book, to be sure the fabric is no less than 42"wide after selvages are removed. I have checked a couple of pieces and they measure 42" with selvages. I am assuming that since she uses strips WOF, that particular piece cannot be used. Is that correct. Also, I dislike sewing strips WOF because it is more difficult to keep them even. Was wondering if I cut fabric in half and sew 22" strips. Would someone explain what she means by "partial Strip Assembly". I like the looks of her patterns and want to try one, but some of her assembly instructions are not clear enough and I am not a beginner quilter.

It would depend on what size units you need to cut your WOF strips into. If you need to cut them into 8” units for example, then you would need the full 40” length; 22” wouldn’t work.

I have seen these books but never gave them much thought. Watched the video above and I can see how this method may be good for a quick baby quilt or a charity quilt. Easy, Peasy and on its way. Thanks for the link JanieW..

I have some of her 3 yard quilt books. The patterns are very easy to follow. I started with the beginner one

I have made a bunch of her quilts. I guess I never had a problem. Funny story. I had never heard of her but at a quilt expo I saw the display and ended up
getting a book and kits for several quilts. The nice lady helping me asked me did I want her to sign my book! I said yes, if course, not realizing until after who she was!!

I have done a couple of these patterns. Found them to be pretty easy if you make sure to read instructions and pay attention. MSQC has a tutorial where Jennie, daughter and daughter in law do 3 different quilts; that's what inspired me to make my first one (watermelon quilt).
